Settlement negotiations in a Labour Disputes Commission (DGK) case
When contesting the claim is not worthwhile, we handle the negotiations.
A brief initial phone call is free, with no obligation to proceed.
Why settlement may be worthwhile
If the review indicates that the employee is likely to be awarded a substantial sum, we negotiate to resolve the case through a settlement.
We handle the negotiations
We negotiate with the employee on the basis of the case documents and the law.
A lower payment
We seek to negotiate a lower amount than the employee claims.
Agreement before the hearing
We aim to settle the dispute before the hearing, avoiding additional fees for preparing a response and representation and resolving the dispute without examination on the merits.
Settlement agreement included in the price
The price includes preparation of the settlement agreement and its submission to DGK. The agreement specifies the amount payable, payment deadline and other agreed terms.
How negotiations work
Document review
First, you commission a document review. If the review shows limited prospects of defending the case, we begin negotiations.
Negotiations and agreement
We negotiate the amount and terms with the employee. Once agreed, we prepare a settlement agreement for both parties to sign.
Submission to DGK
We submit the signed settlement agreement to DGK for approval. Once the Commission approves it, the dispute proceedings are discontinued.
The document review is commissioned separately and costs €180.

Claim for daily subsistence allowances
Under a settlement agreement, the employer paid €5,000 instead of the claimed €10,070, and DGK discontinued the case.
Every case has its own circumstances. Past results do not guarantee the same outcome in another case.
